Seven Seventeen CU turns 45, offers free DNA fingerprinting

WARREN, Ohio - Seven Seventeen Credit Union has celebrated its 45th anniversary with a member and community appreciation day which includes free DNA fingerprinting of children. Seven Seventeen CU is working with the DNA LifePrint National Child Safety Program, which is endorsed by John Walsh, Host of America's Most Wanted. The DNA fingerprinting is easy- an applicator is rubbed on the inside of the child's cheek for a few seconds and then inserted into a fixation solution in a vial to protect the sample from bacteria. The vial is sealed and placed in a ultra-violet light resistant envelope. The DNA sample is kept on file for up to 80 years. Only the first 400 children received the DNA fingerprinting at the credit union's headquarters.
