EDS lays off 2,000; CU division not affected
PLANO, Texas - Mega IT firm EDS laid off 2,000 employees. The company employs a total of 140,000 worldwide. The company said the cuts were not related to problems at WorldCom, one of its major telecommunication clients. Mary Olson, an EDS spokesperson in the company's credit union division, said no one in the credit union area was affected by the lay-offs. That division was recently taken over by Scott Butler. EDS serves about 1,500 CUs with DP solutions.
